I then have an old Thinkpad, I call otg (on the go). It is the main laptop I use now, for programming, the website, and most other things I need a website for.
After having lost my Galaxy S9+ (star2lte) that I had between 2018 and mid 2025 (due to having walked into the ocean with it, very stupidly) I bought a Oneplus Nord N10 for £93 from eBay.
The S9 went through a mix of OSs: firstly the default ROM, then LineageOS, then iodeOS, then back to LineageOS.
My plan was, when the phone died, to just have a phone I would use for texting and calls and little else. Sadly, that's not happened yet, and I've still got a pretty bad relationship with it.
I have two pairs of earphones, both Chi-Fi. Tin HiFi T2 and KZ ZSN earphones. I like them both very much and they've served me very well for many years.
I have a Nikon D3300 I was bought as a child, with an 18-55mm lens. It suits me well, because I'm not a camera expert, and I don't take many photos.
I have three pens. The TWSBI Eco (in EF) is my favourite. I have a brown Pelikan M200 (also in EF) as well that I use often, but enjoy it a bit less...
I recently bought a Pilot Falcon, in EF. It's a Japanese EF though, and is a bit too fine for me, and a bit too scratchy.
I have a fair few inks I write with. Iroshizuku 'Yama-Budo', 'Ku-Jaku', and 'Yu-yake' are very nice. Also, Faber Castell 'India Red', 'Moss Green', 'Olive Green', and 'Cobalt Blue' are all nice. I've a few others that are good too.
I used to exclusively use old notepads I would find about, but have bought some Leuchtturm notepads recently. I like them a lot, but still use a mix of that and other odd notepads I have about.
I have two bicycles. The main one I use is the Giant Escape 3 (V-Brake), which I've had since 2021. I've got a pannier rack on it so I can use it to carry bits and bobs about. I really enjoy it, and it's served me very well.
The other, the Tern Link D7i, I somewhat regret buying. I bought it to use it for cycling to work, but I don't because it's not actually pleasant to cycle on it. The 20in tyres just don't feel good to cycle on. It's just sitting in my room at the moment...
Arch, or Artix (btw). I have used DragonflyBSD and OpenBSD in the past but find Linux to be faster and more stable.
At the moment, river. I used to use Hyprland, and used dwm back when I was on X11.
foot. On X, I used alacritty or st.
Neovim, and occasionally I do helix for programming, but generally just use neovim and enjoy it very much.
I've used all sorts in the past: sh, C, C++, C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, Go, Zig...
I'm still not sure what language I want to use as my standard going forward. I don't do as much programming now, either.
Previously Firefox (heavily modded), but after noticing how much faster and pleasant Chromium is, I've switched to Brave. Obviously I wouldn't use Chrome, for obvious reasons.
I've used mpd/ncmpcpp/mpc in the past, but often I just play the songs manually with mpv on the laptop, or more often, vlc on my phone.
It's a bit of a mess at the moment, with passwords split between pass and KeepassXC. I'm not sure what I prefer.
Plaintext, always.
I also tend to use a kmd format, which is a sort of Markdown-like syntax, that I use for the website. I have a script that converts it to the HTMl you are reading now!
I'm in the process of redeveloping a new format, similar to KMD but with some improvements.
I use Proton, with an Unlimited account. I generally find it serves me well.
